Life is not a two way street. Well it is, but only one way is right. One way is authored by the Lord himself. The other way is authored by our own summations of what wrong and right, good and bad, life and death seem to be.
For instance, if life, by your definition is having enough material things then it makes sense that you would work long and hard for that because it is your "way." It's probably all you know.
Or friendships. If life to you is defined by how many people like having you around then you will expend your time, energy, and income focusing on how to keep and make new friends. That's your way.
If life to you means numbing the pain (whatever it might be and we all have it) then you will expend yourself unto that end.
But is it right? Are the ways that we learn through our life and experiences correct in the eyes of the Lord? What if our very reality is false?
Since arriving in Guatemala the Lord has made it very clear to me that many of my old ways of living have to go. No more. How can you put new wine in an old wine skin? He has made it abundantly clear that He will not allow me, nor anyone else that comes to be a part of this base, the freedom to continue to live life in anything other than the fullness with which He designed it to be.
Our Father is not interested in sending Christians out to the Nations. I beleive more and more that He is actually opposed to us taking anything of ourselves. He is interested in He himself going to the Nations through us because that is what they truly need. It is what we all truly need. More and more of the Father and less of us.
So here's to letting go. Letting go of the old and the false and accepting what is real and has been waiting all along. It's a trust fall but the one who will catch us will be there, arms wide open. Ready to not only catch us as we let go of the false but to Himself replace the false with what is true.
"Yes Lord. We say yes."
